Grandma's Little Helper
Logan had so much fun wearing his own apron just like Grandma! He helped my mom make some apple breakfast cake for her Presidency Meeting. What a wonderful patient Grandma! Logan loves working in the kitchen with anyone that will let him. He is a great little helper.

Logan & Mommy
J-E-L-L-O
We had so much fun with Grandma Dana making Jello jigglers. Logan and Jade sure had a blast. Logan as you can see has a whole mouth full and is very happy. He also loves feeding the babies. He loves those babies. Tiffany is pregnant and he says "Aunt TiTi baby and rubs his belly." Yes Aunt Tiffany has a baby in her belly. :-) It is just so cute. He also had fun playing peek a boo with my dad in his bag. Logan is changing and growing up everyday. Today on the phone he told Bri "wheezy can you hear me" I was laughing so hard. What a great kid!

We made it!
Logan and I made it to Albuquerque to visit Grandma and Grandpa. We have had such a great time so far. Sorry it took me so long to post. When we first arrived it was so cute Logan went running to my mom and dad. He was really happy to see them. We headed straight to Jade and Jaxons birthday party. Mom made a cool Curious George cake and Cam and Dallon rented a huge blow up jumpy thing for the kids and adults! They all had so much fun. Briana (whezzy as Logan calls her) was able to come visit us for a week and that was a blast. She is such a wonderful aunt full of new energy. She pulled Logan down the stairs and around the house on a sled I made her hide it once she left. Oh she taught Logan so many great things to like to pretend sneeze but he does it with food in his mouth. Needless to say she was cleaning up eggs one morning :-) Logan just yesterday went into the room she was sleeping in and looked under the blankets for wheezy. She will always be special to all of us, she was like Logans second mommy. We miss her already but are happy for the time we did have. Logan and Bri are good pals. We have also been going to the zoo, aquarium, going on train rides, playing with Jade, Grandma helped make cereal necklaces, we've played with play dough, jumped on the tramp..... We have just had a lot of fun!! BUT we sure do miss our daddy.

Labor Day at Arlington
I have always wanted to take Spencer to Arlington National Cemetery I knew he would love it. So on Labor Day we headed out with Map Quest but got kinda lost on the way there and on the way home!! D.C. signs are kinda hard to follow but we made it. But of course the whole time Spencer is saying see we just need a GPS...... Once we arrived we had a fabulous time and took lots of fun pictures. Logan loved taking the Tram he thought it was a choo-choo (train). It was cute to see him get so happy over the nice bus ride. He was so tired by the end of the hot day he fell asleep on Spencer and I couldn't resist taking his picture. I sure love my boys and so grateful for a fun day together. I am so thankful for all those who serve our country to keep us free.
What more do you need in life???
When you have Graham Crackers and a glass of milk..............
Amber Posted:
I just had to put this on because my sister-n-law wrote me this email about how my niece Emily loves Graham Crackers now. Well so does Logan and not only does he love the crackers but he has to have milk to dip it into. Every time I give them to him Spencer laughs and asks "Amber why, why??" I always say "Oh SPENCE he needs to have a little fun and get dirty once in a while." Yes he loves them and Spencer is right because while I am cleaning it up I ask myself why why but I decided I just love seeing him so happy and content. The things we do to make our kids happy! (The worst part is I forgot to at least put a bib on the little man! Oh well....)
Flowers for mommy
We went to our 2 year old playgroup today and Logan had a great time. (Thanks to Corinne for putting it together.) The weather was just perfect we stayed long after most people, probably because it was my kind of day to be out and Logan loves being outdoors. He likes playing with all the other kids and it was cute he has a friend named Dalton and he calls him "Dalt". Just a couple days ago Logan picked a flower and brought it to me I thought oh that was cute. Then today he picked another flower and gave it to me "here mommy" it was so great. How does he already know that girls especially mommies love flowers. It just made me smile. I wish I would have brought my camera but next time. We sure are going to miss all of our friends while we are gone.
Mommies Little Helper

Logan wants to help me anytime I am in the kitchen. He is actually great at listening and helping out. Some of his favorite jobs are turning on the Bosch and dumping in the ingredients. It is an activity I have a great time doing with him. I have really fond memories with my mom in the kitchen and I hope Logan will too. He is my little but big helper and it is so fun! I hope he grows up to enjoy baking like I do. We made some yummy banana bread and he couldn't resist taking a bite out of each banana before we put them in. Oh how I love that kid!
Airplane Park
Amber Posted:
This was one of our Labor Day activities and it was just awesome. We had such a great time. Logan loves airplanes and the Airplane Park it next to BWI and we were so close to the airplanes. It was beautiful weather and we all had fun. One of the things I love about living here is there is always so many fun activities. It is great! What a beautiful, fun place we live in.
My Handy Man
Amber Posted:
So I have been wanting to do Logans name for so long but it was kinda pricey and just never happened. Spencer the great man that he is decided he would just stain and paint it himself! Yes, it might not be the fanciest but I think it is perfect. Spencer worked hard and it is awesome. Now we have a shelf for all of Logans favorite cars and it makes it seem more like Logans room than just a place for storage.

Cottrell Family Picture

Amber Posted:
Well we tried taking our own family photo on Sunday......it was kinda rough. Spencer's head is kinda cut off but this was the cutest picture of Logan. We figure who really cares about us anyways. Just imagine Spencer's hair looking perfect. I decided this is better than nothing and we will try again when our family is back together in 6 weeks.
Of all the places!

Daddy's Home Sick

So Spencer was up all night with a migraine and didn't get back to sleep until 5:00 am so he stayed home from work. When Logan was ready for his nap he just went and curled up with daddy on the love sac. I sure love my boys. Spencer is feeling much better now. Yeah!
P.S. Happy Birthday Aunt Alyson!

Life with 4 kids
Amber Posted:
I watched Preston, Xavier, and Matthew today. It was a lot of fun and the kids all did really great. We played with toys in the morning and then went out to the playground. Getting 4 kids ready to go outside definitely took more time shoes, potty, drinks etc. They all really enjoyed each others company as did I. We had a fun time and Logan really enjoyed having friends to play with. They all wanted to wear hats and so I couldn't resist taking there picture. Life was a little bit more crazy with 4 rather than 1 but it was awesome and I was just really organized and did things my way. At lunch they probably all thought I was crazy but we all had to wash hands before and not leave the table until I wiped them all. What a great day!

Chicken Nuggetts and Grean beans yummy yummy!

Well, Well, I have so many which ones to share......
1- Spencer and I met at EFY in Provo Utah when I was 16 and he was 17. He has been my best friend ever since. We just have a great time together and I love just being with him.
2- I am a clean freak....it might not always show since Logan has been born but deep down I just love a clean house. I am so much happier with a life of cleanliness and order.
3- I really love a made bed. In fact I usually always make my bed and if I don't I have to make it up before I get into it at night. I just enjoy tight sheets. So needless to say I love the first night on CLEAN SHEETS!!! Yeah.
4- I love going on vacations! It is so fun to get away from all of normal home obligations. Our family really enjoys DISNEYLAND!! We all go to this happiest place on earth and leave all our worries at home. We all become kids again. One of the reasons I love being on vacation is that Spencer doesn't have to go to work! Happy days and great memories that last a lifetime.
5- I am not very crafty or good at decorating, (I wish I was) so my poor hubby ends up being my Martha Stewart!
6- I hate having dirty dishes out on the counter. I would much rather just load them right into the dishwasher. Mom look what you did to me........ :-)
7- I always wanted to be a mom but I never knew how great it really was going to be. I was always worried it would be like babysitting when I was growing up and I would be done after a couple of hours. But it is different when they are your own. Yes we all have hard days but I absolutely love being a mother. It is the greatest blessing I could have been given. What great joy Logan brings into my life. I love that kid.
So now that I have just gone on and on I tag Chelsea, Kendra, Emily, Cami, Corinne, Ben & Alyson, and Spencer.

Logan's birthday bash
Logan's party was so much fun. I am sorry that it took so long to put up the pictures, but I was trying to get that slideshow with music thing to work and my computer for some reason didn't want to cooperate. Anyways, imagine that there is music playing in the background, maybe I will have better luck in the future. Logan's birthday marks our first year of living in Maryland. His party made us realize how many great friends we have been able to make during our time here. When family is far away it is nice to have such great friends. Thanks to everyone who helped make this day special for Logan and for all of us!

Look Mommy!
Amber Posted:
So I don't even know if me writing this story will do it justice but I have to try. I was putting clothes in the dryer and saw Logan over playing with his cars. He came in and kept motioning with his hand for me to come or so I thought that was what he was saying. I said "just a minute go play and I will be right there". A second later he is back again "uh, uh" which means come on......Well he was being pretty persistent ant but I didn't pay much attention. Finally he decided if she isn't going to come to me I guess I will bring it to her. He brought me the wet wipes container in which we keep the little cars. I figured he just couldn't get a car out because the lid was on. I about put my hand down in there to get the car out and all I see is this huge spider wiggling his legs so fast I screamed and threw it onto the floor. I about had a heart attack. I absolutely hate spiders and I just wasn't expecting the spider so it made it that much worse. Poor kid about died thought he was in trouble or something. I had to try to cover up and told him he was so great to bring it to mommy. He then got on the floor and did the same hand motion he was doing in the air. It was like a spider crawling on the floor.... duh.....come on mom. He was so cute like mom I tried telling you. I asked him if he touched it he said yes but who knows!! I have probably made him afraid of spiders which I didn't mean to do. I hope not but man I was surprised. I wasn't about to flip it over and kill it so we put a shoe on it so we could show daddy. Spencer gets home and he is laughing at my story and says oh the spider wasn't that big, but it sure was big enough for me. Not to mention this is probably the 2nd spider we have ever seen in our apartment it just shocked me I guess. Little Logan what a big helper. It kinda made me think that Heavenly Father probably feels like that with us when he is trying to tell us something but we are to busy to stop and listen!!

Birthday picture

This might not be your typical picture but we couldn't resist. This just shows who Logan is at the moment. He loves adventure and climbing. We went to Toys R Us just the other day to look for birthday gifts and we turned our backs for two seconds and Logan had climbed half way up a 10 foot ladder they had in the store. He sure keeps us on our toes.
Happy Birthday LOLI!!!
2 years ago this week, I was finishing up a 3 month internship here in Maryland. My dad flew into BWI to help me drive home. Amber had been keeping herself busy going to work and to birthing classes without me. We thought we had everything all planned out so that I would have plenty of time to come home, buy a crib and a car seat and get the house ready for the baby (because he wasn't due for another month). My dad and I drove 3 days straight to get home and the next day I had made plans to go to 7 peaks with my friends. Amber was going to go into work early and so she could be home early to go to her last appointment with the doctor before the due date. Amber woke up in the morning feeling kind of funny and she told me she didn't feel like going in, and I reminded her that the earlier she went in, the earlier she would be home. around lunch time, Amber called me and and told me she really was feeling strange and she decided to drive home. I told amber that we should call the doctor and move our appointment up so that we could find out what was going on, but Amber insisted that she was fine and that she just needed a hot shower. After the shower, I was beginning to get really worried. I told her that we should go to the doctors. He had told us to come in if anything was out of the ordinary. Armando, my friend, helped me give Amber a blessing and we headed out to the doctors. When we got there, it was business as usual. The high-school aged secretary made us sit and wait in the waiting room as if everything was normal until finally Amber was taken back to give a routine urine sample. No sooner had she shut the door, when I heard her yell, "Spencer get in here, I'm bleeding!" I found the doctor and he ran to the bathroom. The bathroom in this office faces the waiting room, and is hardly big enough for one person, So when Dr. Barry opened the door and started to check her out, the whole waiting room was watching. The Dr. could feel Logan's head and he turned to me and asked, "Do you want me to call an ambulance or do you want to drive yourselves to the hospital?" I said drive, and we were off. Bri, Amber's sister, was with us and it is a good thing cause I had no idea where the hospital was and Amber was in no condition to act as my navigator. We got to the hospital and we got the same treatment we had received at the doctor's office, the lady at the front desk gave me a hand full of papers and said, "have a seat and fill these out, and we'll be right with ya." I was thinking to myself, "She is going to have a baby right here on your desk if I fill these out lady!" Just as I was thinking that, a nurse came in and grabbed us and I dropped the papers, we went into a delivery room. The nurse came in and told us that we were going to have to wait for the Dr. to get in to deliver. They broke Amber's water and then things really started to speed up. We were totally unprepared and sent Bri to the apartment to get us some supplies. The nurse checked Amber again and decided things were progressing a little too fast so they gave her meds to slow her contractions down, then the epidural guy came in. I about passed out when I saw that needle... Finally the Dr. arrived and we started. The bad thing was, because of the drug they gave Amber to slow things down, her contractions were ineffective and Logan's heart rate started to drop. The Dr. made the decision to use the suction plunger to pull while Amber pushed and a couple minutes later, (two hours after we had arrived at the hospital) we were the proud new owners of Logan Glen Cottrell. Logan Must BE GROWING!!!
Amber Posted:
Logan must be growing because he had a bowl of cereal for breakfast with Spencer at 6:50 a.m. Then at 8:30 he had a whole serving of oatmeal. Then at 10:00 he was asking for bite and he had a bowl full of macaroni and cheese. I really couldn't believe it when he told me he was hungry the last time but he scarfed up the mac and cheese like he hadn't eaten all morning. Crazy kid, I wonder how the rest of the day will go......

Jet-lag Therapy
Smells like team spirit... Kimchi Squirts Forever!!!
While we were in Hawaii, my co-workers competed as a team in the Tinman triathlon. Allan swam, Ann biked and Nancy ran. The guy that won, did all three in about an hour and a half. Our team, "The Kimchi Squirts" did a more realistic time just under three hours. Please excuse the graphic graphic on the shirts, the locals got a kick out of them. I did not compete because I didn't want my co-workers to feel bad about themselves or intimidated in any way.
More Hawaii
Well I know that you were all waiting on the edge of your seats for these pictures... Here they are! Looking at them again I realize what a great opportunity it was to go and see Hawaii. We had a blast and were able to pack quite a bit into the trip. There are some pictures of flowers that I had never seen before, and a few extra pics that fit in with the others that I already posted. Look for the picture of me and my sweet ride for the month, a Chevy HHR! If any of you are thinking of buying one of these, please call me first. I do, on the other hand highly recomend the scooter/golf cart thing. We saw 3 waterfalls on the big island and they were amazing. Enjoy!

Wish I were "on an island"
Not really but this song reminds me of Hawaii and my month in Paradise. Hope you enjoy the tunes, I will post a slide show of the rest of the pictures when I get around to getting off my lazy bum. I can still blame it on jet lag...

Judd's Temple Night
Posted by Amber:
This was a really special night for me to be in New Mexico. I am so glad I had the opportunity to go to the temple with my little bro Judd. I just love this kid and can't believe he is growing up on me so fast. Well we had a babysitter all lined up and my mom went to get her and I went upstairs to get my temple recommend out of my wallet and yes you guessed it I didn't have it. I started balling. I was so sad. I couldn't believe that I left it with Spencer in Hawaii. I was just so devastated..... My mom gets home with this young girl I have never met and I greet them with a face full of tears. Good ol' mom says Amber we will get this figured out call your bishop, I didn't have his number on me so I called Cami and thank goodness she was sweet and her and Jake gave me Bishop's number and our Stake President. I called both of them and neither one of them answered. We decided I was going and we would just see what happened once we got there. I was having so many feelings on my way to the temple. Frustrated with my own stupidity for not remembering to get it. Sadness to know that I was worthy and had just been to the temple a week before in Hawaii and wanting so bad to be there with my family and brother. Sad that they wouldn't just look at me and see that I am a nice girl (I know they can't do that but I was sure hoping.) Well aren't we so grateful for our mothers, I know I am. We pull into this beautiful temple and mom says lets stop and say a pray and ask for help. Okay what a great idea. So my mom said a sweet prayer and then into the temple we went. The front desk guy called for one of the temple presidency counselors and he came down we told him the situation and he looked at me with a tad bit of disappointment that I didn't have my recommend and said I will have to get a hold of your bishop or stake president so wait here and I will go try. Oh my heart sank I was so worried. I held up pretty well until mom left and I sat there all alone and the minutes slowly ticked away. It was probably 15-20 minutes but felt like an hour and no word and the session was supposed to be starting and I just broke down sobbing. I thought to myself I wonder if people who make mistakes and aren't able to attend the temple if this is the sorrow they feel? It was awful, knowing my family was inside but I couldn't be........ Then a nice lady came and sat by me and talked to me and helped me relax. She said he was still trying and they were holding the session for me. Long story still long he was able to get a hold of Bishop Nuss and bless his soul he said I could enter into the house of the Lord. I was one happy daughter of God. And I know he knew the real desires of my heart and I was so blessed that the Bishop answered his phone. Also very grateful for a temple who was accommodating and understood that I wanted to have this special experience. It turned out wonderful and it really made me think how special it is to be a worthy temple recommend holder. I am so happy to have the knowledge of the gospel that I do. It also really made me want to always try harder to be a good person and follow the commandments so one day I am not the only one in my family left out of Gods presence. The spirit was strong and it was a great feeling to be there with Judd who has lived such a wonderful worthy life. He is one special son of God. He knows who he is and he has worked hard to be where he is today. I am so proud of him and happy that he is being such a good example to my little boy. Plus going to Spencers mission what a cool thing. Anyhow we all went to dinner afterwards and it was so fun. Judd you are great. I love you buddy.
Logans Visit to Albuquerque
Posted by Amber:
Logan had such a great time at my mom and dads. He loved playing with papa, mama, Juudd, Brizzy, Jade, Cam, and, Aunt TiTi. Just a couple fun memories.
* We went to the zoo and Logan slipped thru one of the exhibits luckily it was only the prairie dogs. He sure loved the Polar Bears. He is so funny all the other kids like to stay close to there moms but Logan loves to explore and he is fast. He found a truck unloading things to the zoo and was thrilled to look at the big tires and bolts. He also enjoyed watching the monkeys and the elephants. His best part of the whole zoo was the fun ride on the camels with his Grandma.
* Grandma and Grandpa made there house feel like home with a crib and fun sheets to match. It was nice too my mom and dad had a humidifier for Logan because he isn't used to such a dry climate.
* My sister Briana came while I was in Hawaii and she did her hair curly one day and Logan looked up at her and said "mommy". He loved to call her "izzy" for "Brizzy". They had a lot of fun swimming together too. Wish I could have been here while she was.......
* He loved being so close to his cousin Jade. He can say her name and says house when he wants to go to Jades house. She has a dog and her name is cocoa and he loves the dog too. He calls every dog cocoa now.
* Jade is so gentle with Logan if he falls down she says Logan are you okay? He will say ya okay. Then she will go over and say do you want me to kiss it better? And he says yes and she bends down and will kiss his owie. They are pretty precious together. We drove in the car somewhere and before she got out to go to her house she bent over and gave Logan a big kiss on the lips and a huge squeeze.
* He loves his Uncle "Juudd". They played the piano together, they would swing together, watch movies, and Logan would steal Swedish fish from Judd. When Judd would leave for school Logan was so sad he always wanted to go with him.
* Grandma went to work one day and Logan was so sad. He kept asking for mama all day. Grandma was the #1 care taker while I was gone and she sure got lots of loves. He is going to miss her. Thanks mom for getting on the stinky camel.
* Grandpa is called "papa" and Logan asks for him every morning. He loves to wrestle with papa and get him.
* Logan learned how to pretend to be asleep with his snoring. It is so cute.

The Big Island
The weekend before Amber left to go home we got tickets to fly from Oahu to the big island of Hawaii. The big island is famous for volcanoes, farming and waterfalls. We saw all three!
Here we are on some of the lava formations, it looks like puddy. The lava rock was very light in weight and if you look closely at it is full of colors and bubbles, it looks kind of like burnt plastic.
What is amazing is how such a barren place is so full of life. There were times when the air was so full of sulfur that we could hardly breathe, and the heat and dry wind took the moisture from our mouths, and still we would find small patches of flowes and plants.
we followed the old flow of lava to the water's edge and were taken away by the overhanging cliffs. The waves would smash into the walls and send spray hundreds of feet to where we were standing. I felt like the ground was going to give out from underneath me.
