... as we know it.... I feel fine (sort of)

So as I was driving back from Burger King with the meal I was hoping would some how convince the movers to be more careful with our stuff, REM came on the radio singing their "end of the world" song. It was like hearing the theme song of our lives right now, CRAZY. So here it is... some of our stuff getting put on a plane, some of our stuff being put into storage and the rest being wrapped in brown paper that is somehow going to protect it on its 45 - 75 day voyage on a barge. It was kind of funny how the movers managed to find scratches and spots on everything we own and marked them with their cryptic codes to ensure that they would not be liable for anything short of the crate falling off the ship, but looked at us like we were crazy if we acted concerned about the door to the crate being fastened in a way that it appeared to be hanging by two or three nails. I cannot tell you how much I hate being asked, "this is your first time moving right?" followed by a patronizing, "I can tell." Excuse me for being concerned about my stuff making it in one piece. If it was their stuff going around the world on a boat you know they'd be picky too.... anyhow... there is our stuff, all of our stuff in a box. (I hope that whoever Mr. Browning is, doesn't end up with my big screen)
The movers were sort of slow but it allowed for many of the friends we have made at the apartment to stop by and say their goodbyes. Raymond the maintenance man stopped by a couple of times to see Logan. They have become pretty good pals. Jo, the old lady from down stairs almost made us all cry as she said goodbye. We really have made a bunch of great memories here.
Logan took his first steps here. Now he is a little boy, more fascinated with the hugeness of the moving truck than concerned about the long trip ahead.
Addy is just walking now and she most likely won't even remember living here unless fate and the economy bring us back here...
So here we are... leaving one adventure, about to embark on a new one... our biggest yet.

Addy's first birthday

I can't believe how fast time has flown. Our little girl is one, she is walking and growing up right in front of us. It is hard to imagine life without her. She makes us all happy with her giggles, her tantrums and her independent attitude. It is fun to see the differences between her and Logan but even more fun to see them interact and love each other. Here is a link to her birth post. Below are some pictures that I picked out that show the evolution of our little baby angel aka "sugar face".... aka "baby boo"... But Logan insists, "her name is Addysen Bri!"

Ready for spring

The last week it has rained a ton. This is nice because it smells good and we love the sound but, it is not ideal for biking. So yesterday we were happy that the forecast was wrong and it was a nice sunny day. With all of the rain, Maryland is transforming, getting green and the flowers are beginning to come out.
Logan and I thought it would be fun to go for a ride so he grabbed his pads and I grabbed the camera. We saw lots of pretty nature.
Logan is really getting good at riding his bike, it still is a little tough to get up the hills though.
There are little patches of yellow daffodils in the forest by the path.
This is our "long and winding road.... that leads to [our] door".
Whenever we go past this wetland patch it reminds me of the old Ichabod Crane movie.

Today unfortunately, it is raining again so hopefully it will stop before it gets too soggy again...

Yo Ho Pirate Logan

Yesterday Logan went to William's birthday party, which had a pirate theme. We borrowed a costume from Bern and upon putting it on him, Logan released his inner pirate so took a billion pictures to capture the moment.

Aside from riding the ride at Disneyland, this kid has no concept of pirates. He is so funny, as soon as we put on the hat, he started talking in a low voice and making scary faces. He even prayed in a pirate voice ending it with a "amen...Pirate." We were dying...
We are sure excited to go on the ride at Disneyland again. It is coming fast!

Addy and Logan Update

Here are some more pics of the family. Addysen is pulling herself up and crawling all over the place. She is so so fast we have a hard time keeping up with her. She loves to "play" with Logan especially when his cars are all lined up so perfectly. :-) No really they do play together and he is very patient with her.

Logan made his own peanut butter and jelly sandwich in Joy School. He was so proud of himself. It is so neat to see him growing up and learning new things. He is learning his letters and the sounds they make. I am so happy for him! Logan is a big help around the house. He clears and loads his dishes after meals, he is great at cleaning up his toys, and he is even getting dressed and putting his shoes on by himself. Logan is getting really fast riding his bike. It is crazy how fast kids can learn!!

Janet and Emily thanks for letting us borrow this sailor dress it is so cute! She was a hit at church wearing it. I love this picture of both my kiddos. (Although it wasn't the greatest smile from both of them it was the best we could do on the way out the door for church.)
What a kid.
Spencer and Logan bought me beautiful flowers the other day and we had Burger King for family night! That is my kind of FHE! Thanks guys.

SNOW DAY

Yesterday morning I woke up to the sound of somebody scraping the ice off of their windshield. I looked through the blinds and saw mounds of white powdery goodness covering everything. I could tell by looking at the street lamps that it was still coming down so I called in to see what the work situation was and to my great joy, it was a snow day! I went back to sleep but hours later, Logan and I put on our gear and headed out into the cold. Logan found my trusty ski goggles and almost got them on right:)
This year has been pretty pathetic when it comes to snow. There has only been one other storm that yielded enough snow to play in and it was so late that we felt cheated when it was time to come in to go to bed... Yesterday however, we had all of the time in the world.
Logan is the short one on the right... the one that looks like a cross between superman and little Randy Parker from 'A Christmas Story'...
The snow wasn't the best for packing but it was fun to roll around in and wrestle in... After Logan was through playing we went inside and the first thing he said was... " how bout this mom... how about we turn off the lights and watch the grinch?" It did kind of feel like Christmas time, but I was not about to get out the movies... So instead we watched Monsters Inc. and drank hot chocolate. I can't wait till it snows again.
